Palm 138:8

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;

Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;

Do not forsake the works of Your Hands.

The Lord created us and knew us before we were born.  He has a plan for our lives for good things and a good life.  He works on your behalf daily and guides you in ways you don’t even see.  Trust in the Lord and listen to His leading and build yourself up in the Lord today by remembering you’re important to your Father in heaven.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

“Wait for me!”  And then you find out what you were looking at wasn’t worth it.  Repentance and turning to God is about finding the right road in the midst of a lot of wrong turns.  Sometimes, some junk needs to be cleared out of a life before the person can see ahead. How blessed we are to have a God who waited for us as He sent people to plant seeds in our lives.  Even more exciting to then become the one to help those find repentance.

Jude 20,21

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

There will be days when no words can explain the burden on your heart.  You won’t know how to pray and everything will feel like a mess.  At those times pray in the Holy Spirit who understands what you need and trust the Lord to help you.  “Keep yourselves in the love of God” who holds you in His hands and lifts you out of trouble.

Colossians 2:8

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

The world has many varied opinions and it is hard to find the truth.  Praise God we have His word to guide us in an everchanging world. God does not change and His laws do not change.  The best way to stay in peace when the world is in fear is the bible.  We have something greater to trust in than ever-changing opinions and philosophies.  If it doesn’t line up with the word of God than move on and keep your peace with the word.

Romans 13:14

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

You remember when you were a kid and someone told you not to do something because it would end badly, but, you didn’t listen.  Simply stated, God warns us about the bad that can enter our lives.  He warns us of the pitfalls and destruction that we can avoid. He tells us if we put on Jesus a way is possible to avoid being controlled by the flesh.  He loves us that much.

Proverbs 8:17

I love those who love me,

And those who seek me diligently will find me.

We have a part to play in our relationship with Jesus.  If you are looking to draw closer to Jesus you must first draw closer to Him.  The strength of your relationship relies on how much focus you give to Jesus.  Love is a two-way street and we know we are loved by God.  Good relationships take work and there is no better relationship than one with God.

1 Peter 3:10

He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.

Have you ever stopped in the middle of speaking and wonder why something came out of your mouth?  “He who would love life and see good days,” which every one of us wants.  This scripture says the power for those good days is in how we speak about our lives and situations.  If you need a boost to speak better fill yourself with the Bible, read it until you remind yourself of all the goodness Jesus wants you to have.

Psalm 62:8

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

Ever stop and think about what you are trusting in?  Have any of them ever promised to be your refuge?  Many things cross our paths on a daily basis and we choose which ones to focus on. Jesus already knows our heart but when we pour it out to Him we fellowship with Him.  What we trust in changes our outlook and when it is God it changes our lives.  Trust leads to hope and hope can bring us through the good times and bad

September

St. Clements Church Isle of Lewis.

I normally post one day at a time.  I didn’t realize that I hadn’t posted September because of my schedule.  I am just posting what I wrote for the month in one section.  Sorry

Romans 10:9

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

When you’re lost and want to be found the way can seem so complicated.  The world likes to make the one thing you need to save you seem just out of reach.  The last thing a person needs when they are in desperation, is another mountain to climb. Praise God He made it simple for us through our confession and believing.  He made it simple for us to help others to Jesus.  He made it simple for us to be saved.

Luke 1:47

My Spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

The wonder of our mighty God who loved us in the womb.  At the times when you feel most low remember who loved you first, last and always. Then lift your downtrodden spirit and worship the Lord and bring into focus His glory.  Push back on the forces trying to bring you low and let God reach down from on high and lift you up.  Praise Him, worship Him and rejoice in your Spirit and He will lift you up.

Colossians 1:9-11

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

The power of prayer is something we can’t see.  God tells us we can move mountains by the power of prayer.  Replace the “you and ye” in the above with your name today and start building yourself up in prayer.  Start building the bridge to being fruitful, gaining knowledge and strength.

John 14:12

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My father.

How do we do this? Our first step is to BELIEVE in Jesus who we haven’t seen, and it can be a huge step.  Then our hunger increases for the word and the word starts to transform into the KNOWING of His ways.  As the word of God becomes alive in our spirit, we grow in knowledge. When we know His ways, the above scripture becomes possible.  Jesus was our example of all that God needs us to do on this earth. Everything starts with the word Believe.

Daniel 12:3

Those who are wise shall shine

Light the brightness of the firmament,

And those who turn many to righteousness

Like the stars forever and ever.

Think about how you were saved.  How grateful you were to the person it was that first showed you the truth.  Most times it is the simplest of ways and through relationships.  We are set on this earth to shine like a beacon and relate to people in their hardships and show them the love of God. In a world of confusion Love shines like a beacon and kindness melts the cold heart.  It is what we are sent to do every day in some small way whether to our neighbor or a stranger waiting in line.

3 John 2

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Sometimes looking back at your beginning shows how far you have come.  Most growth happens through steady work and concentration, and you have to see how it benefits your life.  We all want to prosper and grow and live our best lives. The prosperity of the soul through the renewing of your mind to Gods’ word is the key.  Just remember sanding down the edges takes time and patience, don’t lose faith, God will instruct you in the way to go.

Mathew 6:38

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Notice when you seek Him He doesn’t take away.  Who can out give God?  Nothing brings more joy and peace than fellowship with Him and His promises. “Seek and you shall find,” the answer to the problem, the guidance you need, the comfort of the broken heart.  All this is possible when you choose to turn to Him and seek His righteousness.  You play an important role in this equation by your choice to believe in Him or not. “God is a rewarder to those who seek him,” Hebrews 11-6 at every stage in our lives.

James 4:7

Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Ugh, temptation.  We all have it, and the devil studies us to know what button to push.  He makes suggestions, gives excuses and waits until we are tired.  The devil knows better than to strike when you are feeling good so be wiser than the devil.  You may need to take stock of your feelings to see if you’re hungry, angry, lonely or tired before you decide.  If you are any of these things, wait before you submit to temptation, instead submit yourself to God and resist the devil.

Galatians 5:22-25

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passion and desires.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

How much more peaceful life is when we walk in the spirit.  The Spirit makes the curvy roads straight, and the detours vanish.  Have you noticed that passions and desires have highs and lows that can’t be sustained?  We end up wearing ourselves out looking for something that never satisfies.  What we seek is to be content and, in most cases, don’t know how without the help of the Spirit.  Satisfaction with life starts by saying no to those things that don’t line up with the word of God.  And it’s not a weak no, it’s a draw a line in the sand and shout at the devil kind of NO.

Hebrews 11-3

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which were visible.

When you think about a foundation, it is usually something fundamental but strong like concrete. Without foundation, the house won’t stand, and if the cement isn’t mixed correctly, it will crack.  Faith may seem like something simple, but it is the foundation of belief in Jesus.  Faith is what you choose to believe.  If you don’t believe the word of God how do you expect to see it at work in your life? Don’t let doubt talk you out of all that God can do for you.  Let faith teach you how to understand God and His ways.

Luke 1:37

For with God nothing will be impossible.

Where does the belief that something is impossible come from?  Limits and boundaries.  Healing, poverty, prosperity, forgiveness, love, eternal life, salvation is a list of what people believe to be impossible but are all listed as possible with God. God reminds us that nothing is impossible for Him even ourselves and our limits and boundaries.  He created us in the first place and knew what we need.  So turn to the God of the impossible and watch as He removes the limitations.

Proverbs 8:17

I love those who love me,

And those who seek me diligently will find me.

God loved us first. He wanted to be with us and spend time with us.  He created a planet that comprises all of our needs.  Our lives were meant to be fulfilled by the love of God.  We are meant to have a close relationship with Him. A relationship with Him fills the voids in our hearts and heals our souls.  He is a big God waiting to be found by us daily.  Don’t let discouragement, doubt or fear pull you away from seeking God.  In Him will find your answers.

Proverbs 13:3

He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

What we believe becomes what we say.  If we think we can control what comes out of our mouths, we can.  The best example is Gods’ word and how it created the world. The word, in the beginning, created all we have around us just as what we speak creates everything around us. Make sure what you believe is solid in the word of God and your words will create that world.  Change is possible for all of us and God wouldn’t warn us if He didn’t think it was important.

2 Timothy 1:7

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind.

When troubles come your way and you have that moment of pause and fear talks to you quote this scripture to him.  If your thoughts are troubled and you feel that circumstances have overwhelmed you. Quote this scripture.  God gives us the word to use as our shield against the darts of the enemy.  You have power in the circumstance.  Fear tries to drive us away from God and away from His strength but, God has not given us a spirit of fear.

Philippians 4:11-13

Not that I speak in the regard of need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound.  Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Paul suffered for the faith to spread the word of God.  We can use him as an example of faith in action during the good and bad times.  In our lives, there will be times when we will need to be steady as Paul.  We will suffer highs and lows but our strength through all of these times will be Jesus.  Paul kept his focus on Christ and walked through his current condition.  Our faith in Jesus will strengthen us in ours.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives do I give you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Peace is a confidence builder.  You make better decisions in peace than in anger, doubt, fear.  The peace of Jesus is built on faith in God and His word. The belief and knowledge that Jesus has overcome the world and its circumstance.  If you look too much at the world around you, your heart will be troubled.   “Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  He says you have the power not to be afraid if you change your focus.

Isaiah 40:31

Those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

Sometimes…we have to be patient, and maybe it isn’t a bad thing.  Sometimes in the waiting is when our strength is renewed and our purpose affirmed.  We don’t always see what it takes in the background for God to answer prayer.  The devil is going to oppose the answer to our prayers just like he did to Daniel.  Which is why it is essential that we pray in faith believing the answer is coming. That way we won’t get weary or faint but will mount up on eagles’ wings.

Romans 8:38,39

I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God loves us so much He continually reassures us of His faithfulness.  Every bad thing that can be thrown at us was defeated when Jesus took the cross.  No matter what happens to us, God is with us in the trials.  He never said we wouldn’t have any.  He did say He would help us through them.  The worst thing would be to be separated from God and His love. But, praise God when we became born again the promise of God never to leave us became ours.

Proverbs 3:5,6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your way acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Did you ever notice that faster your life seems to go the less you hear from God?  Our time with the Lord is essential because it saves time. We make fewer mistakes with divine direction than we do on our own.  When we acknowledge Him, it shows that we trust Him to lead us.  It is hard to find peace if we are overwhelmed by busy.  The devil uses busy to distract us from God. God never meant for us to live this life exhausted.

Proverbs 19:23

The fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; he will not be visited with evil.

Reverential fear of the Lord leads to life by remembering what God deems as holy.  God provides knowledge for all of us who love Him. The world today believes that a moral life is irrelevant until they have problems and don’t understand why.  God can’t protect us when we chose to sin. His word gives us boundaries and a safety net to keep us from harm.  Who of us doesn’t want to be satisfied and not visited by evil?

new-8284Mathew 11:29-30

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

This picture is of an animal burdened down pulling something and working.  Jesus creates an image of opposites because having Him in your life is not a burden. His yoke, His teaching, His way that He wants to help you in your life frees you.  When we learn from Jesus and free ourselves from the way of the world and we free our souls. We find the happiness we crave and our needs are met.
