Psalm 32:5

I acknowledge my sin to You.

And my iniquity I have not hidden.

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”

And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. It may not happen every day, but we all fall short and sin.  The point is that Jesus came to die for our sins so we can confess them, repent and move on.  Jesus died for the big sins, and little sins which if we don’t confess will hold us back, and we live in guilt.  To succeed in this life, we must acknowledge that sin and repent and move on.  If we keep looking back at our past mistakes and repeating them, we will never have a future, and Jesus died on the cross to give us a future.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Sometimes it is just the little things that wear on our thoughts.  Something we should cast down, but we let a small offense, frustration, inpatients, sadness to plant a seed in our thoughts.  It could be a simple fear of losing the keys, and we know there is no proof to believe this imagination is real.  God did not give us a spirit of fear but a sound mind.  Combat those thoughts with the word before they become a hill, a stream and then a mountain to cross. 

Psalm 91:10,11

No evil shall befall you,

Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

For He shall give His angels charge over you,

To keep you in all your ways.

When we pray and confess the word of God over our lives, we build a hedge of protection around us.  We do this by faith believing that what God says in His word is true and that He will do what He says.  By keeping our thoughts and minds focused on the word we don’t leave any room for fear or doubt to enter.  The hedge of faith in God protects us and keeps us from harm. 

Proverbs 3:25,26

Do not be afraid of sudden terror,

Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;

For the Lord will be your confidence,

And will keep your foot from being caught.

We may not be able to control our circumstance, but we can control how we react to it.  If we turn to God when trials and tribulations happen and confess His word we will raise our shield in defense against the enemy.  What may look like a tidal wave in front of us can be reduced to a puddle when we pray in faith to Jesus.  Confess the word and not the situation and we overcome and walk through the situation in faith.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except such as in common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Most of our problems begin with a thought that we don’t cast out.  If a temptation enters our minds and we ponder, dwell, think on it then we will have a problem.  If the devil can get us to think about something we most likely will act on it.  We will reason in our minds and come up with excuses for why it is ok to do.  The bible says to flee temptation and think on things that are lovely and pure.  We have the weapons in our arsenal but the choice to use them is ours. 

Genesis 28:15

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.

We have a faithful God who keeps His promises, and one is that He will be with us always.  Sometimes, we think that God has left us, but that would be breaking His promise, and He can’t do that.  God is perfect.  We are not, and so we need to make sure we keep in fellowship with Him.  Our relationship with God depends on us keeping our thoughts and minds focused on Him.  Children are expected to check in with their parents and so should we check in with our Father.  

Proverbs 24:3,4

Through wisdom a house is built,

And by understanding it is established;

By knowledge the rooms are filled

With all precious and pleasant riches.

The definition of wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.  The bible is a roadmap to wisdom showing us the potholes and ditches that exist in this life.  It has examples of what to avoid and how to prosperous, be healthy, treat others and live.  The best way to get close to this wisdom is through the Bible.  Our needs will never be filled if we don’t turn away from the distractions in our lives and try to spend time in the word.  

Deuteronomy 8:18

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

The blessing of Abraham is ours because we are in the Family and when we are in the Family we have to think of ourselves as heirs.  Heirs to the promise of God for wisdom, blessing and wealth.  An heir has a different kind of thinking and believing because they know they shall receive and have been provided for by their father.  When we became born again, we joined the Family and became heirs because of the covenant that God made. 

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

When we focus, we pay attention and listen to what is being said.  The bible is meant to be focused on or meditated over in small chunks.  No one can read the whole section of Corinthians and know it, but we can focus on one line or a paragraph and learn it.  We all want to have good success and prosper, but wisdom takes time to learn.  The bible teaches us the wisdom to overcome in this life if we just give it the time. 

Hebrews 9:28

Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.  To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.  

Jesus bore our sins on the cross, so we don’t have to.  We don’t have to live in sin and condemnation but free and able to choose a life with Jesus.  Salvation is a free gift that pulls us up and over in this life which means we need to develop beyond just being saved. We need to be overcomers and doers of the word with Jesus operating through us freely.
