19 Proverbs 14:9

Fools mock at sin,

But among the upright there is favor.

Sin takes us farther than we want to go, keeps us longer than we want to stay and takes more than we want to give.  A person who doesn’t understand that a seed of sin can grow into a mountain of calamity will mock the upright for wanting to avoid sin.  The upright person avoids these calamities by choosing not to enter into sin and will receive favor from God.

Matthew 6:20,21

Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Job was the richest man in the world and lost everything by fear, but God replaced everything he lost and more.  Job’s heart was still with God in all the tragedy he went through.  Was Job’s treasure on earth or in heaven?  Job’s treasure was in heaven.  God is our greatest treasure working on our behalf.  He can bring us through any tough situation, but we have to keep God in the center of our lives.

James 1:5-8

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Wisdom for every situation we face is right at our fingertips with the turning of a page in the bible.  The bible is a handbook to what we are going through or can ever face.  Doubt will never bring a sure thing and just slows down our advancement in the kingdom.  When we pray to God for guidance, we can go from information to revelation very quickly over a situation.  First, though we need to put our faith in action and turn to God for the answers.

Mark 11:23

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Do you notice that this scripture says doubt with the heart?  Which means we have to believe with our hearts and not with our minds.  We need to be careful and make sure we are not just agreeing with a concept in our minds but fully persuaded in our hearts.  To believe in something that strongly we need to meditate on the scripture about what we are praying for until we build the faith.  Build the foundation of faith in the heart and then move the mountain.

1 John 3:14

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren.  He who does not love his brother abides in death.

Love is a powerful force and can change the dynamic of our lives when we choose to walk in it.  When we love we don’t hold grudges, try to control others, and live our lives in peace.  Fear keeps us out of love by creating thoughts about each other that may not be real.  Fear keeps us remembering past hurts, slights, disappointments, and unable to forgive.  When we choose to love we free ourselves from fear and death to live life, love, and peace.

John 6:35

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”

If you talk to an unsaved person, they always feel like they are missing something.  They can’t explain but somehow, they don’t feel complete, and there is a hunger to know their purpose.  A person in lack never believes they can achieve anything.  When we turn to Jesus and receive Him in our lives, we open ourselves up to unlimited potential.  Jesus is the gate that we need to walk through and lead others to so they may complete the calling of God on their lives.

2 Corinthians 5:17

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Our past will try to hold us back if we let it.  That could even be a problem from yesterday if some sort of strife happened.  We have the power to choose and decide how we are going to react and control the flesh.  What being new means is the ability to recreate our lives in the image of Jesus and walk in love.  Love is like the curtain rod that everything from Jesus hangs upon.  When we are in Christ, we are a new, love creation and all the old self has passed away.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Eternity is a word that is hard to grasp in our day to day lives.  The world says time is short and live life now and not worry about the consequences.  Our lives have meaning, and our choices have consequences here and in eternity.   Jesus died to save us so we can spend eternity in heaven.  Our job is to become more like Him on this earth and share His message and be His message to everyone we meet.

1 Corinthians 6:19,20

Do you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Most of us have never thought of ourselves as a temple for the Holy Spirit.  If we think about a temple and it being Holy it was never meant to have bad things brought into it.  A temple is cared for and kept clean and tidy with prayer and worship of God going on.  We were bought with a price by Jesus dying on the cross for us and when we remember all these things it is easier to understand and glorify God for all He has done for us.

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

A child will throw fits, get angry, try to get its way, be impatient, and selfish because it hasn’t learned how to control the flesh yet by the word of God.  The problem is many people on the earth are still walking like children.  The benefits of walking according to the Spirit is our minds will be filled with peace and happiness.  We won’t feel condemnation for our behavior because our behavior doesn’t cause strife.  No matter the situation we have a choice, and when we choose Jesus, our lives will be transformed for the better.
