Isaiah 40:31

Those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

 

Patience?  I don’t always have patience, but I am starting to realize that God has a timing.  I know that sometimes I need to give time for God to work.  I may need to sit and wait while I do that; I need to renew my strength in Him while He is setting what I am praying for into motion.  If I rush in before God has it ready for me, I am going to do a lot more work than I had to.  “They shall walk and not faint.”  Walking and not fainting comes down to trust, faith, patience and knowing Gods word.

1 John 3:21

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.

Heart check? Or is it listening?  Remember as a child, and you start to test your wings and believe you know a thing or two. Then, your parents try to step in and warn you that maybe what you’re doing isn’t the best idea.  Heart check?  Or motive check?  Either way, consequences follow our actions whether we want to acknowledge it or not. Regret is a powerful teacher and picking up the pieces of something broken implies that we have to throw something away that was wasted.  “We have confidence toward God” only when we listen to our heart and head the correction before we have to pick up the pieces.

Genesis 28:15

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.

Ever been in a room crowded with people and felt alone, or traveling somewhere by yourself and not knowing anyone as you go on the journey.  I have, and I remind myself before I go and while on the trip that He SAID He would be with me wherever I go.  I need to tell myself of this because fear can stop me from stepping out if I am not trusting that Jesus is going with me.  How many times in life have opportunities been missed because the journey seemed too hard alone?  Remind yourself you are never alone and trust the Lord to guide you on your journey.

John 4:23, 24

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

I will admit to not always understanding the depths of God.  As I grow in Him and choose to draw closer to Him, my spirit becomes tenderer to Him.  I am learning that I didn’t always understand the meaning of worship.  There is a spiritual connection between worship, praise, and thanksgiving.  The more profound understanding of a Father in heaven that pours out all that is good for us to draw us closer.  Who doesn’t long to be closer to God and understand His fullness of love and mercy, once we realize that we become true worshipers in spirit and truth, but first we must be open.

Romans 6:6-8

Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.  For he who has died has been freed from sin.  Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.

Ugh.  The old sin self.  If he could, the devil would keep you focused on what you were.  He can’t if you don’t let him.  The old man was crucified with Jesus on the cross, and the sin is done away with.  Who wants to remain a slave once they have been made free?  Who wants to stay in the past with the hope of a future?  I think sometimes we need to remind ourselves how valuable we are to God who sacrificed His son for us.  Then go to the next step reminding yourself that you live with Him.

 

1 Peter 1:23

Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

Everyone needs the life game changer, a chance to start over by being born again and being able to walk away from the past.  How many times have we tried to make good but don’t seem to have the edge we need to make it stick.  We don’t know that until we are born again of new seed that when sown will germinate and not die in the soil but grow.  Without God, we cannot break out of the sin, sickness, and death that reigns over us.  Through the word of God, we become over comers and incorruptible all by choosing to change on the inside.

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

“Reasonable service?” “Transformed by the renewing of your mind,” Sometimes I feel two lines work together they are just written farther apart.  To present my body as a living sacrifice into that which is holy, I need to renew my mind.  I can’t do it on my own, and it wouldn’t seem reasonable for me to try until I fill myself with the word of God.  Until I understand all that is possible with God for me in His word I will never be willing to give service to Him.  On the other side of that if I don’t renew my mind with the word I will always have the longing for the deeper relationship so “that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Philippians 4:19

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

I spent many years struggling until I became born again and turned my life over to Jesus.  The feeling that I was alone and no one to turn to would feel like a huge burden.  Then, I read His word, and I will admit I was angry for a time wondering why no one had told me of this truth before.  I had a God who wanted to help me with all my needs.  Not just on Sunday, not just if I begged long enough.  He does it by Christ Jesus and according to His riches in glory.  I think that sometimes we need to think more extensive than we see.  I think we need to believe bigger than we feel.  I think we need to trust more than ourselves.

Ephesians 4:26-27

Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

I never thought I could be angry and not sin, which means that if I make choices in anger, it depends on how far I let that anger go.  Pastor Monte always says, “Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay and take you farther than you want to go.”  If I choose the road of anger, I give place to the devil, and I narrow my choices.  I hem myself into a path that if I had let the anger go, I would never have taken.  What do I value most is peace and freedom within the boundaries of scripture teaching.  Don’t get caught up on the word boundaries, because if I truly know what Jesus has written about my life and His plans for me than I know, they are for good.
