Luke 11:39-40
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me.

“Martha was cumbered about much serving” or working and not hearing the word. Mary put aside the work to hear what Jesus had to say. Do you think the people Martha was serving heard the word? Probably not. It is needful as Jesus said for us to quietly sit and listen. We need to set aside the distractions and not be pressured from our time to study or listen to God’s word.

Luke 9:11
And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

Jesus spoke of the “kingdom of God” and brought hope where there were none and healing to those who believe. The power and meaning of His teachings have not changed. The promise He was sent to convey in the word is alive and has power. Jesus meant for the word to stay in our hearts to keep us strong, stable and confident Christians.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s and of the holy angels.

What happens when you become ashamed of something? You usually don’t want to talk about it. The bible is the light of truth into a dark world and the devil doesn’t want the good news broadcasted. Knowledge from the word of God transforms lives every day. We are sent to be the salt of the earth and sometimes we have to speak up for what the word of God says. We need to act like Christians and not the world.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But they that were wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Our lives have so many distractions but what is most important? Time. Time well spent can save you in the future. The unwise virgins didn’t plan for the groom to be late. The wise virgins took extra oil just in case he was and it paid off. The bible is God’s written word to help you plan your life and save you from trouble. If you keep plugged into God and His guidance through the word your lamp will not go out and you will be prepared.

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Time to remember your superpowers. The day of salvation is every day when you are a believer witnessing for God. We need to remember that sometimes witnessing is about planting a seed. We may not succeed with a person the first time. Sometimes people need to watch you for a while to see if what you say lines up with what you do. Keep at it, and you will see a harvest and bring people to salvation.

Luke 8:15
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Learning takes time. Knowledge is power, and with Jesus inside you helping you study the bible you will bring forth fruit and your heart will change and grow. Guard your heart and make the word of God the final authority over what you believe. Don’t let the devil steal from you what you have gained in knowledge of God.
