Psalm 147:10-11

He does not delight in the strength of the horse;

He takes no delight in the legs of a man.

The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,

In those who hope in His mercy.

It is easier to work with a humble person than a proud because the humble person is teachable. The Lord doesn’t look for those with the greatest strength but those who are willing to be obedient to His Word. Our attitude toward God and our willingness to be open to Him and fear Him is what makes the difference.  When we hope in His mercy, He will answer us.

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

A lot of times, a fool is just someone who wants their own way and doesn’t listen to the counsel of the Lord.  The fear of the Lord is about reverence for Him and His ways.  We can never learn from God if we are unwilling to listen to Him. Just like in school or anywhere else, we have to learn and get revelation than we change.  Without instruction, we will never gain wisdom.

Philippians 4:9

The things which you have learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Peace is almost a superpower.  Let’s face it if we make better decisions in peace than strife.  We waste less time when we trust in the Lord and have peace than we do in worry.  All we have to do is learn from Jesus and follow how He handled every situation.  The confidence that we get from knowing where our answer will come from (Jesus) as we go through the problem provides the peace.

Romans 16:20

The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.  The grace of Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Jesus was sent here to show us the way.  He took our sins and crushed Satan and set us free.  We have to remember when He did that Jesus made us have dominion over Satan. We don’t have to live in the curse, but we can live in the blessing.  Don’t let Satan steal, kill, and destroy anymore but use the Word of God to put him in his place.

Luke 19:10

The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which is lost.

There are times in our lives when we can be saved and still feel lost.  Those times when we have come up short of God’s best and sinned.  When our thinking wanders away, and we forget to reign in the negative.  We become like an, slowly moving away from God without even knowing it until one day we are in the middle of the desert….Lost.  If we turn to Jesus, He will help guide us back and restore us to the fold.  Never forget His purpose or His promise to us who believe.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not to your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

Somedays we just want a direct phone line to Jesus so we know precisely the choice we should make. Those times when we are most confused about a situation, it means we aren’t trusting God and trying to figure it out with our intellect.  If we don’t have peace over something that is going on, then we shouldn’t be doing it. Step back, acknowledge God, pray over the matter.

Deuteronomy 1:30

The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes.

How many of us even though we are born again struggle with an Egypt from our past?  The Lord has showed Himself mightily in our lives yet we struggle with a sin or stronghold that hangs on.  We need to pray for revelation from the word as we study the bible so we can break the stronghold.  Knowledge given to us by God will remove any doubts and fears the devil places in our minds.  The truth will make us free.

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

What a promise to us who believe in God. The devil will try to make us feel isolated in times of trouble.  Our faith and confession of the word is our witness.  We are to build ourselves up and speak scriptures like these to reminds ourselves we are never alone.  God made us the head and not the tail.

James 4:8

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Our minds will think just about anything if we let it.  We can’t one moment want to walk close with God and the next let our minds think and speak ungodly things.  That is what it means to be double minded.  Our spirit and the word of God needs to reign in thoughts and mind.  We control the mind not the other way around.  Draw near to God with our heart and mind and cleanse ourselves from our sins and we will overcome.

17Proverbs 18:24

A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

God is that friend who sticks closer than a brother.  His love for us is beyond measure and He promised that He would never leave us or forsake us.  We are a temple and the Spirit of God dwells within us and all we have to do is believe.  Our faith is our witness to the love of God and His presence with us.
