Proverbs 25:28

Whoever has no rule over his own spirit

Is like a city broken down, without walls.

If we don’t rule our spirit and seek God in our lives, the flesh will take over. We will have no defense because we fall into sin and be without walls of protection that we gain from learning from the word of God. Our spirit needs to renew to the Word of God that gives direction and guidance.

James 4:8

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

God created man so that he could have a relationship with him. God still wants to be close to us today and involved in every aspect of our lives. We can draw near to God by studying the bible, praying, worshipping, and talking to Him. We must first draw near to God for this to happen by removing ourselves from any sins and purifying our hearts.

2 Chronicles 16:9

The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on the behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

God is standing in heaven, searching the earth to find people to show Himself strong. He is a rewarder of a loyal heart. The devil tries to tell us we don’t matter to God. God in His Word tells us how important we are to Him. We can trust, rely upon, and expect God to show up for us when we are loyal to Him.

Proverbs 4:20-22

My son, give attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings.

Do not let them depart from your eyes;

Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them,

And health to all their flesh.

The bible instructs us to keep our attention on the Word of God. This focus will help us prevent the chatter of doubt, fear, and lack that comes from the world. Focus is what helps us achieve the dreams that are in our hearts. The promises of God are life and health to our hearts and refreshing water to our souls.

Ephesians 6:13

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

We put on the whole armor of God to withstand in the evil day. The armor created by God is more than enough to overcome any circumstances. When we put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, the shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the spirit/word of God, we are fully covered and waiting for victory to come as we stand.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

We all have trials and tribulations in this life and times when our hearts get broken by people, jobs, death, crisis. In those times, God is standing right by our side, knowing that we are hurt and need comfort. He may send people across our path to speak words of encouragement. Know that God is working to heal the heart and mend the wounds.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on the things.

Our thought life should be managed and controlled. Not every thought that wanders through our minds should be allowed because we know the devil will send stray, stupid thoughts to take us off course. When we meditate on what is lovely and true, that is what we speak over our lives. Our lives then produce what good things we think and speak.

Proverbs 12:14

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.

We are to speak words that produce good in our lives, which means that we may have to be silent when we cannot speak life producing words. The devil will try and prod us into sabotaging the blessings that God has in store for our lives with what we say. Faith and doubt work in opposite directions and speak in different ways. Be a light of faith.

John 5:24

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My Word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Remember the moment when we first believed? That moment when we confessed Jesus as our savior, and we passed from death and into life. We were saved because we heard God’s Word. The kindness of other Christians who encouraged us toward salvation and shared His Word made all the difference for us. We meant to do the same because we understand what it was like to be searching for and then found by God.

Romans 4:20, 21

He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.

What does it take to be convinced about what we don’t see? We have faith in something every day, and those things are mainly the things we can see. We become fully convinced about the promises of God through the study of the Bible. The revelation comes to us as we meditate the promises of God, and they become just as real as the world around us.
