Proverbs 3:4

And so find favor and high esteem

In the sight of God and man.

God wants to bless us and give us favor.  We should pray for favor to show itself abundantly in our lives.  Favor in every aspect of our lives will demonstrate the power and glory of God on this earth.  That is God’s system, which doesn’t have to be worked for as compared to the world’s system.

2 Timothy 2:4

No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

Whether we are aware of it or not, there is a war going on to keep us from completing our walk of faith.  The closer we walk to God, the more we show what life can be like for the unsaved.  The affairs of life try to come in and choke out the word and make us lose our focus.  We are a soldier in the army of God and will not lose our focus.

1 Peter 2:11

Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.

The devil will tempt us into bad behavior and help us justify it in our minds.  The war is for our soul and our future here on earth.  The lust of the flesh is like a detour to a dead end.  We end up wasting time, energy, and do damage to ourselves and others when all we want is the best in the world; we can only find that in God and His word.

Romans 12:1

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Our minds are like a rudder on a ship with our thoughts steering us where we go.  When we renew our minds to the word of God we clean out the junk of the world…fear, sadness, poverty mindset, and anger.  God has a perfect will for our lives, and we become open to His leading by being transformed by the word. We are transforming our minds from the negative things of the world to the life-affirming thoughts of God.

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world.  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

We live in this world, but we don’t have to participate in its behaviors.  The way of God leads to peace, satisfaction, and purpose.  We are designed by God to have a purpose and fulfill it on this earth.  This world won’t last, “but he who does the will of God abides forever.”  Our love for God and His way will radiate through our lives as we walk closely with Him.

Colossians 3:2

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Why does the bible keep telling us to focus on God and His word?  Because the word of God has all the answers to our problems here.  The word is our guide to stay in peace and faith as we walk through the trouble and our daily lives.  God wants to help us in the simple and complicated things that we face.

1 Peter 1:7

That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Our genuine faith is more precious than gold.  Faith in Jesus Christ and His promises will open closed doors, heal us when we are sick and save us from destruction.  The longer we study and know Jesus, the more we receive the revelation of His love for us.  Such a great love that bore our sins and removed our shame and set us free.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We all believe in something, and though we may not call it faith, it is whether it is positive or negative.  It is a faith in something.  We see it in our minds and meditate on it coming true.  Our lives come down to the choice of what we concentrate on, whether positive or negative.

April 2

God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

We always make better decisions when we are in peace than in strife and confusion. Confusion means to get us off the plan God has for our lives. We are to seek peace through the word and comfort in the direction and reassurance that it gives. Pray to God and wait for answers, and the peace will come.

Galatians 6:7-8

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, be he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

The flesh likes its way and is selfish and is never satisfied. The more we feed the flesh, the less satisfied it is. The spirit grows with the nourishment of the Word of God, and this growth brings about health and prosperity as we gain knowledge from the word we learn how to be free of the corruptions of the flesh.
