Proverbs 16:31

The silver-haired head is a crown of glory,

If it is found in the way of righteousness.We gain so much experience as we age and walking through our faith. Our lives should reflect the wisdom and knowledge obtained in the word. As we mature, the righteousness of God will crown our gray heads with the glory that only God can provide. Our lives will bear witness to the goodness that can only be found in a relationship with Jesus.   

Isaiah 46:4

Even to your old age, I am He,

And even to gray hairs I will carry you!

I have made, and I will bear

Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Even as we age, God promises never to leave or forsake us. In a world where youth is glorified, yet age does not matter to God. Our value doesn’t lessen, and God is there to carry us and deliver us from any trouble. We should not be afraid of getting old but remind ourselves we are getting stronger and wiser in the word. 

Hebrews 13:5

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

When we follow God and grow in His word, we will be blessed. First, we have to learn the power of our confessing the word. When we look at what others have and not be thankful for what we have, then our focus is not on God. God said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” He is our source for all our needs and our provider for the desires of our hearts. 

Psalm 92:4

For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

When God gives us an assignment, He will equip us to do it. Our job is to pray, believe, and follow where He leads us. If we keep our focus on the Lord and listen in our spirit, we will know the right way to go. We want to triumph in the works of God’s hands. We want to be the vessel that succeeds for God, and that is what brings us joy in this life. 

Psalm 92:4

With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.

God wants us to live a satisfied life so we can accomplish all that we were sent here to do. Our lives have meaning and purpose. We are here to represent God in our day to day lives to our families and strangers. A life with a purpose means a life with a plan that God reveals to us through His word. Our reward from our relationship with God is that we will see His salvation. 

Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Notice that the speaker is walking through the valley. The speaker isn’t going to camp there or fear any evil while passing through. The speaker’s confidence is in the Lord, who is walking with them. God protects with His rod and staff, providing comfort even during the trial. The focus shouldn’t be on how dark the valley is but how much light God will shine to help us through. 

2 Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the truth.

God tells us to keep working at our faith walk. The moment we get lazy with our faith is the moment we can let the devil find a way to attack. We are not to let the book of the law depart from our eyes so we can maintain our focus on what is right. As we work out our faith, we don’t want to be ashamed by not understanding the truth because we have backed away from the study of the word.

Romans 12:11

Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. 

Serving the Lord doesn’t mean we all have to be Pastors preaching from a pulpit. God needs Christian representatives everywhere, and a Pastor isn’t able to be everywhere. We serve the Lord when we walk in love with a person at the grocery store. We serve when we are kind and take an interest in people and help others. God just asks us to remember to do it every day and be fervent in the spirit.

1 Chronicles 22:13

Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Mosses concerning Israel. Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.

The times we get most worried in life are the times when we are not sure of our direction. We can’t run our lives in a state of chaos and ever expect to get anywhere. We, as Christians, we’re meant to prosper in this life by following the word of God. God can blaze a path through the messes of life quickly through revelation in the word. If we dare to trust Him and turn over our cares, God will show us the way.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your works to the Lord,

And your thoughts will be established.

When we commit to something, we leave all the distractions behind. Commitment takes focus and belief that what we have set our minds to we can accomplish. Committing our works to the Lord means we will honor the Lord with what we do. Our commitment to the Lord to honor Him will shine through our lives and be a beacon to others. Our thoughts will be established, and no diversion will slow us down.
