Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.

God is still telling His people (which is the believer) this every day. God does not want us to fear because God is with us always and sent the comforter to lead and guide us. If we would only believe and strengthen ourselves with the word, it would transform our lives, families, communities, and the world.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things (which He has called me to do) through Him who strengthens and empowers me (to fulfill His purpose-I am sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am equal to anything through Him who infuses with inner strength and confident peace.)

Jesus is our source of comfort and strength. We can do all we need to fulfill our call through Jesus. Our power is not in our efforts but the work completed by Jesus. When we learn to listen and yield to the guiding hand of Jesus, we will overcome all obstacles.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things.

We need to develop ourselves to the point that we can stay in peace no matter what is happening around us. To develop, we must practice focusing our thoughts on the list above. The mind is the battlefield, and the word is our sword. Speak the word, and God will be with us guiding our way.

2 Corinthians 11:3

But I am afraid that, even as the serpent beguiled Eve by his cunning, your minds may be corrupted and led away from the simplicity of (your sincere and) pure devotion to Christ.

We need to control the thoughts in our minds. We shouldn’t just let the mind wander down futile paths that cause us to lose our peace. When we use the word to speak against the thoughts that come, we stand spiritually according to the word. The devil will steal our peace if we allow him to steal our thoughts.

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world (any longer with its superficial values and customs), but be transformed and progressively changed (as you mature spiritually) by the renewing of your mind (focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes), so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

The word of God develops our spirits and transforms us from the inside out. We must practice transforming our spirits by studying the word so that our spirits control our actions and reactions daily. We need to renew our minds so our spirits can practice peace, self-control, and resistance to fear and not be affected by what is happening around us.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but (He has given us a spirit) of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline (abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control).

One of the reasons we have to renew the mind every day is because it doesn’t stay renewed without our continued reading of the Bible. Keeping the word fresh before our eyes every day keeps back fear and keeps our minds focused on the promises of God. We are to discipline ourselves, our thoughts, and our feelings. We choose to walk in faith or fear. Choose faith.

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the Light (that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God), as He Himself is in the Light, we have (true, unbroken) fellowship with one another (He with us, and we with Him), and the blood of Jesus His Son cleansing us from all sin (by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations).

When we get to the point where we lean so much on Jesus and not ourselves (mind, will, emotions), we will have unbroken fellowship with Jesus. When we can wait on the Lord to hear His voice for His guidance and not our wants, we will flow with Jesus. When we become fully convinced of the importance of our relationship with Jesus, we will reach out for the connection.

2 John 1:9

Anyone who runs on ahead and does not remain in the doctrine of Christ (that is, one who is not content with what He taught), does not have God: but the one who continues to remain in the teaching (of Christ does have God), he has both the Father and the Son.

The standard for all we hear is the Bible and our safeguard from false teaching. If someone is trying to teach something opposite or out of line with the Bible, we should not listen. We don’t want to pollute our faith or cause doubts to come with a word that isn’t scriptural. That is why knowing and reading the word is so important.

Jude 15:20

But you, beloved build yourselves up on (the foundation of) your most holy faith (continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher), pray in the Holy Spirit.

Praying in the Holy Spirit is an advantage given to us by God. We build ourselves up when we pray in the Holy Spirit and increase our foundation of faith. We may not know what we are saying, but God does and answers prayers we didn’t even know we had. So, use the advantage given to us by God to help strengthen us here on earth.

Psalm 62:5-6

For God alone my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; my fortress and my defense, I will be not be shaken or discouraged.

There is faith power in submission and waiting on the Lord. The power resides in knowledge and trust in God and His promises to us when we believe in the word. A foundation of faith with deep footings entrenched in the word is hard to move. When we have confidence and not be discouraged, we know we will receive an answer from God.
