Psalms 103:17-18

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear Him and His righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep His covenant, and to those who remember to do his commandments.

The fear of the Lord is the open door to releasing the benefits of the covenant, and our children’s children benefit when we choose to follow Jesus.  When we remember His commandments and remember His instruction, He shows us His mercy.  Without God’s mercy and direction, our lives would have no purpose and no reward.  So, a little fear for the God that did so much for us is nothing.
