Proverbs 18:15

The mind of the prudent (always) acquired knowledge, and the ear of the wise (always) seeks knowledge.

We can live this life without gaining wisdom and knowledge from God, but we will struggle. God and His word are the best guidance to keep us safe. Our five senses limit us; we can only comprehend what is before us. God created everything and can change space and time. What better resource do we need?

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge, (its starting point and its essence) But arrogant fools despise (skillful and godly) wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.

The fear of the Lord is the first step to gaining wisdom. When we fear and respect the Lord, we will turn to Him for guidance and wisdom. We will not follow the crowd but follow the Word and do what is right in the eyes of God. Our job is to not be a fool and reject what is sent to save us from disaster.

Isaiah 11:2

And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him- the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and of the (reverential and obedient) fear of the Lord.

The wisdom that comes from God supersedes any other kind of knowledge that exists. God can strengthen and counsel us with just a word because God knows exactly what is happening in our lives. When God sends knowledge to us, it is to answer prayer, keep us away from danger, and send us comfort and love.

1 Thessalonians 5:6

So then let us not sleep (in spiritual indifference) as the rest (of the world does) but let us keep wide awake (alert and cautious) and let us be sober (self-controlled, calm and wise).

We will not slip into indifference when we strive to keep our faith stirred up. Faith takes focus, persistent pursuit, and discipline. We practice our faith daily and maintain close contact with Jesus. When we do this, we keep the door closed on the enemy who watches our lives for weakness. Keep the door closed and practice the faith daily.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but (He has given us a spirit) of power and of love and of sound judgement and personal discipline (abilities that result in a calm, well balances mine and self-control).

The mind is a terrible thing to waste in fear, but we all do it. We get distracted or busy, and our time is consumed by all the things that need to get done, and we don’t focus on the Word. Until we stumble and can’t seem to get ourselves clear of the fear torment. To keep ourselves, we must be persistent and consistent in our faith. The most important time spent is with our Bibles and keeping our peace.

Ephesians 1:18

And (I pray) that the eyes of your heart (the very center and core of your being) may be enlightened (flooded with light by the Holy Spirit), so that you will know and cherish the hope (the divine guarantee, the confident expectation) to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints.

We gain personal knowledge when our eyes of understanding are enlightened when we are reading the Bible or God speaks to us. When we understand God through the revelation of the word, we, as Christians, find it harder to be shaken from faith. Revelation of God and wisdom from God show us faith beyond the pages of the Bible and strengthen our faith.

Ephesians 1:17

(I always pray) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation (that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight) into the true knowledge of Him.

Every Christian needs to pray for increased wisdom and knowledge of God. The more we understand God and how and why He works, the stronger our faith will be. It takes time and study, but our devotion to understanding will increase our faith and bring us closer to God. We will learn our benefits in Christ and learn to walk in our faith.

2 Timothy 4:3

For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction (that challenges them with God’s truth); but wanting to have their ears tickled (with something pleasing), they will accumulate for themselves (many) teachers to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold.

In order for us to keep on the straight path in a wild world, our Bible and all that we can learn from it must be a priority. The Bible is truth against a twisted world and keeps us grounded in the faith. If we have no standard to follow, we will never see the error and sin trying to draw us away.

Psalm 150:1-2

Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to (the abundance of) His greatness.

Praising God will bring in victory. When we have done all we know to do and are standing and waiting, we start to praise. Praising is when we sit back and thank the Lord for His actions on our behalf. Praising says we know God will do it for us because we can’t. We have done our part, and now God will do His!!!! Praise the Lord.

Psalm 145:19

He will fulfill the desire of those who fear and worship Him (with awe-inspired reverence and obedience); He also will hear their cry and save them.

If we could see a gauge of how much we worship the Lord, would it be enough? For all God does for us, do we praise Him daily and give Him thanks? Praise lifts our hearts and focuses our spirits on God. Praise helps us win the battles we are facing. Praising God may be the one thing keeping us from victory.
