Psalm 34:12-13

Who is the man who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 

With our words, we build faith and a good life, and with our words, we can tear it down. When we speak the Word of God in faith, we also need to act as if it is true, because we believe what we say. We activate spiritual forces when we act in faith on the Word of God. We plug into the power of God, just as we plug into electricity. The power of God is always there; now activate it. 

Psalm 19:14

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my (firm immovable) rock and My Redeemer.

The words we speak determine our future. Are we speaking fear, doubt, anger, lack, selfishness, or words of faith, healing, and prosperity based on the Word of God? To radically change our lives, we must speak the Word of God out of our hearts and through our mouths. Our belief and trust in God must be larger than the circumstances. 

Romans 8:1-2

Therefore there is now no condemnation (no guilty verdict, no punishment) for those who are in Christ Jesus (who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior). For the Law of the Spirit of life (which is) in Christ Jesus (the Law of our new being) has set you free of the Law of sin and of death. 

We are no longer condemned because we are in Christ. Jesus is there to help us through the bumps and teach us to overcome our sinful nature. Our spirits, with the help of the Holy Spirit, will renew our hearts and our minds, and we will overcome sin and death. Do not be discouraged or dismayed but reach out to Jesus.

Romans 6:5-6

For if we have become one with Him (permanently united) in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be (one with Him and share fully) in the likeness of His resurrection. We know that our old self (our human nature without the Holy Spirit) was nailed to the cross with Him, so that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.

We change when we are saved. We are no longer the old person unable to make choices that miss the mark of goodness. The selfish old nature perishes, and the new nature of Jesus and love enters our hearts. God can heal our hearts from pain and move us to forgiveness, just as we were forgiven. 

Romans 6:4

We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life (abandoning our old ways).

Through our salvation in Jesus Christ, we leave off the old sins and never return. We bury the sinful conscious self that was constantly under guilt and condemnation in the grave. We walk out a new person, able to have contact with God and His loving grace. Now able to walk free in this life, able to avoid the traps of the devil. 

Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say (to all this)? Should we continue in sin and practice sin as a habit so that (God’s gift of) grace may increase and overflow? Certainly not! How can we, the very ones who died to sin, continue to live in it any longer. 

Jesus died for our sins with the expectation that we would no longer continue in sin. When we are set free, we are to move forward in that freedom and not back to the practice of sin. There would be no need for salvation if we chose to remain in sin. Salvation clears the path and removes the barrier between us and God created by sin. 

Romans 5:20-21

But the Law came to increase and expand (the awareness of) the trespass (by defining and unmasking sin). But where sin increased, (God’s remarkable, gracious gift of) grace (His unmerited favor) has surpassed it and increased all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness, which brings eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

If it weren’t for the Law identifying sin, there would be no awareness of a transgression and the shortcomings revealed. Jesus came to take away the sting of sin and death. He relieved the punishment of sin and death so we could gain eternal life. We are now free from guilt and condemnation, able to move forward, no longer bound by sin. 

Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified (that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God) by faith,(let us grasp the fact that) we have peace with God (and the joy of reconciliation with Him) through our Lord Jesus Christ. 

 We no longer carry the burden of our sin when we get saved. God is not out to punish us for our sins. We have been justified and declared blameless through Jesus. We no longer must bear what Jesus bore and no longer must live under the torment of sins. We have peace with God through Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 12:5-6

The thoughts and purposes of the (consistently) righteous are just (honest, reliable), but the counsel and schemes of the wicked are deceitful. The (malevolent) words of the wicked lie in wait for (innocent) blood (to slander), but the mouth of the upright will rescue and protect them. 

We are protected and remain righteous when we are honest and not deceitful. The wicked are not that way. They cannot be relied upon to speak the truth and will bring about the downfall of those who are innocent with lies if they trust them. Our words matter! When we say the words of God and remain under His protection, we will not be overcome by the wicked. 

Psalm 72:12-14

For he will rescue the needy when he cries for help, the afflicted and abused also, and him who has no helper. He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and he will save the lives of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression, fraud, and violence, and their blood will be precious in His sight. 

When we cry out to the Lord, He will hear and answer. Our God hears the cry of the needy. He has compassion for the poor and the mistreated and saves their lives. He does not forget the poor or the mistreatment of the needy. God will redeem their lives from repression regardless of financial position.
