Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

I speak every day but do I listen to what I say. Some days I know I don’t pay attention to anything at all but the emotion I may be feeling. The more I know of God’s word, the more careful I become with my words.  I can choose to speak words that are affirming what I have in Jesus Christ, or I can choose to speak words that break my world down.  It comes down to what I want out of life, and it comes down to whether I take the Word seriously.  I draw a line in the sand whether I choose life or death.  It is all up to me.

_MG_07982 Corinthians 2:15-16

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.

Our lives are real on this earth and meant for a purpose.  Every day we get up and choose to focus our lives on Jesus we bring a sweet smell.  How many people on this planet would be affected if we were suddenly gone?  How stinky would this world become with all the death?  We bring the presence of Jesus into our communities, schools, work, and homes.  We are a sweet smell “the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved.”  That makes we want to praise Jesus for taking up the cross and bringing out of the fragrance of death to the sweet smell of life.

For grace have you been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I read this while bible journaling and it is my habit to read the verse out loud several times. This time I focused in on the “it is the gift of God.” Every good thing and plan for my life that my heavenly Father has is for good. “For grace have you been saved through faith.” We are saved by the gift of God. The whole verse is about all that God gave us through Christ. How much my life is his plan and that I have a purpose for good works. I have a mission to do good works. How special does it make all our lives to know that each one of us is on purpose? All we have to do is accept the gift.

Welcome to my daily devotion.  The purpose is a pure focus on the Word of God.  Everyone has a journey and sometimes one word from God can help through the toughest times.  Encouragement and insight always help us in our day to day lives knowing that we are not alone and God is with us every step of the way.  The way we build faith is by the word of God and reading it every day.  I hope to encourage you and empower you as you read these devotions.  My first post will start on July 2.
