Isaiah 59:21

As for Me, this is My covenant with them, says the Lord: My Spirit which is upon you (writing the Law of God on the heart), and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouths of your (true spiritual) children, nor from the mouth of your children’s children, says the Lord, from now and forever.

God will speak to His people through the generations of His children here on earth. God will continue to instruct and inspire until the day Jesus returns. God will not leave us without understanding of His promises, and the Word will not be lost down the generations. He will always be there, providing wisdom and comfort.

1 Peter 4:7

The end and culmination of all things is near. Therefore, be sound minded and self-controlled for the purpose of prayer (staying balanced and focused on the things of God so that your communication will be clear, reasonable, specific and pleasing to Him.)

If our lives are pushed to the limit, we will struggle to find balance. The Bible and Jesus are stabilizers, protectors, and guides, but if we don’t have time to spend with them, we will falter. Prayer and study are vital to our lives. Time spent in the Word is time well spent listening for guidance from the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 3:10-11

The one who wants to enjoy life and see good days (good whether apparent or not), must keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from speaking guile (treachery, deceit). He must turn away from wickedness and do what is right. He must search for peace (with God, with self, with others) and pursue it eagerly (actively-not merely desiring it).

We must actively seek peace in our lives, and it begins with us, our hearts, and attitudes. Reaping and sowing apply to the peace in our lives. If we are active with strife in our hearts, we will be active with sowing strife with others. Our thoughts will motivate us to do good to others or do evil. Suppose we think evil, anger, or revenge toward others; eventually, it will come out of our mouths and our actions. Diligently seek and pursue peace!

James 3:10

Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way (for we have a moral obligation to speak in the manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts).

If we read our Bibles and speak encouragement to ourselves and others, our words add value to our lives and those around us. If we are constantly complaining, arguing, and fighting with others, then we have an issue in our hearts. We are responsible for our own words and actions, and we must show respect to God and His rules for our behavior and thoughts.

Matthew 15:11

It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that defiles and dishonors him, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles and dishonors him.

We can all be gauged good or bad by what we speak. If we have offense, hurt, jealousy, hatred, anger, all will be spoken about from our mouths because we are still thinking about the problem in our hearts. Forgiveness doesn’t dwell on past mistakes and doesn’t hold a grudge. For us to be free and have clean hearts, we must forgive and not dwell on the problem again.

Proverbs 10:31-32

The mouth of the righteous flows with (skillful and godly) wisdom, but the perverted tongue will be cut out. The lips of the righteous know (speak) what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked knows (speaks) what is perverted (twisted).

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak. If our heart is not filled with Bible knowledge and teaching, we will err in our speaking about ourselves and to others. If we maintain offense, strife, and selfishness in our hearts, our mouths will speak those offenses. When we plant seeds of love, kindness, and joy in our hearts, that is the way we will treat the world and those around us.

Psalm 141:5

Let the righteous (thoughtfully) strike (correct) me-it is a kindness (done to encourage my spiritual maturity). It is (the choicest anointing) oil on the head; let my head not refuse (to accept and acknowledge and learn from) it; for still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.

Correction when we are in error brings about repentance and redirection. If we are frustrated, then we may be going in the wrong direction. Have we ignored words of correction, trying to open our eyes so we can see what God wants for us? If we refuse to be corrected, we refuse to mature as a Christian and stay stuck in wrong thinking and actions.

Proverbs 10:19

When there are many words, transgression and offense are unavoidable, but he who controls his lips and keeps thoughtful silence is wise.

Our words can either uplift or tear down. We are to control the speech out of our mouths just as we are to control our thoughts. Our words reveal our thoughts, whether positive or negative, whether harmful or uplifting; we are creating our lives with the words we choose. God wants us to live lives using the power of words for our benefit and not our destruction.

Psalm 34:12-13

Who is the man who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.

With our words, we build faith and a good life, and with our words, we can tear it down. When we speak the Word of God in faith, we also need to act as if it is true, because we believe what we say. We activate spiritual forces when we act in faith on the Word of God. We plug into the power of God, just as we plug into electricity. The power of God is always there; now activate it.

Psalm 19:14

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my (firm immovable) rock and My Redeemer.

The words we speak determine our future. Are we speaking fear, doubt, anger, lack, selfishness, or words of faith, healing, and prosperity based on the Word of God? To radically change our lives, we must speak the Word of God out of our hearts and through our mouths. Our belief and trust in God must be larger than the circumstances.
