Proverbs 22:3

A prudent and far-sighted person sees the evil (of sin) and hides himself (from it), but the naïve continue on and are punished (by suffering the consequences of sin).  

As Pastor Monte says, “Flee from sin…run away from it!”  Little sins lead to bigger sins because the conscious has compromised itself and loses sensitivity to sin.  That is why the Bible stresses that we keep on guard.  Our goal is to live a life with clean hands and a pure heart.  

Deuteronomy 30:20

By loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding closely to Him; for He is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord promised (swore) to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The amount that we love the Lord and trust in His promises will reflect in the amount we receive our promised land.  When we are willing to do our part, God can do His part.  If we feel we are not receiving from God, then do a heart check.  Spend time with the Lord, and He will direct us back on the path so the blessings may flow.  

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.  He will not fail you or abandon you.”

Covenant with God means He does the fighting for us, and we do the believing and trusting for our part. Knowledge of God and His promises make us able to stand and withstand the trials.  Our faith is our strength, and the Word of God is the covenant language that backs it up.  We believe, and therefore we speak, and the mountains will move.  

Exodus 14:13

Then Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Take your stand (be firm and confident and undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for those Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see again.

Take your stand and see the salvation of the Lord!  We have to take a stand in faith to see the promises of God come to pass.  Faith believes in what can’t be seen and trusting that God will keep His Word.  Keep the Word before the eyes and refresh the mind to the promises of God.  Then, the Lord will fight on our behalf as we take a stand on the Word.

Exodus 13:21

The (presence of the) Lord was going before them by day in a pillar (column) of a cloud to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, so that they could travel by day and by night. 

When we fellowship with God and spend time in the Word and His presence, we open ourselves up to His leadership in our lives.  The light of God through the Holy Spirit is the light that will guide us both night and day.  The devil knows this, and it is why he wants to distract us with time wasters that draw us away from our God time.  

Exodus 6:6

Therefore, say to the children of Israel, “I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will free you from their bondage.  I will redeem and rescue you with an outstretched (vigorous, powerful) arm and with a great act of judgment (against Egypt).

The Lord still acts on behalf of His covenant people today.  When we cry out to the Lord, He will answer us and bring us out from under the burdens.  God is waiting to redeem us and rescue us from our troubles.  We don’t have to suffer or remain weak. We have the strength of God behind us in all we do.  

Genesis 17:1-2

“I am the God Almighty; Walk (habitually) before Me (with integrity, knowing that you are always in My presence), and be blameless and complete (in obedience to Me). I will establish My covenant (everlasting promise) between Me and you, An I will multiply you and exceedingly (through your descendants).”

Born again, believers have covenant rights passed down to them from Abraham.  This covenant gives us power and authority over our health, finances, and troubles.  We must rebuke the devil with our covenant authority and stand on the Word of God.  The power is ours and our covenant right.  

Genesis 1:8-9

Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him saying. Now behold, I am establishing My covenant (binding agreement, solemn promise) with you and with your descendants after you.

God made a covenant with Noah, their descendants, and the animals that He would never destroy the world again with a flood.  When God makes a covenant with someone, it means that He will never break His promise.  God watches over His Word and His promises and makes them come true.  A rainbow is a sign to this day of that promise to this day.

James 2:14

What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has not (good) works (as evidence)? Can that (kind of) faith save him? (No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient-genuine faith produces good works.)

We must practice faith and build up our spirits.  Start with believing for a parking spot!  Or practice faith for relief from a headache because our faith builds as we see a manifestation of the answer.  Breaking barriers and climbing levels take time and practice.  We are like builders; we have the foundation but must add the bricklayers to go higher.

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world (any longer with its superficial values and customs), but be transformed and progressively changed (as you mature spiritually) by the renewing of your mind (focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes), so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (in His plan and purpose for you).

As we increase in the revelation of the word of God, a separation from worldly ideas and ideals becomes natural.  As the world departs from Godly values and attitudes, the Bible remains a stable source of the truth.  We may begin to naturally no longer watch, listen to, or allow any influence from those influences that speak against the word of God.
