Romans 6:4

We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life (abandoning our old ways).

Through our salvation in Jesus Christ, we leave off the old sins and never return. We bury the sinful conscious self that was constantly under guilt and condemnation in the grave. We walk out a new person, able to have contact with God and His loving grace. Now able to walk free in this life, able to avoid the traps of the devil.
