Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me (the Messiah), because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent Me to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy).

Jesus came to set us free from the chokehold that sin has over the people. He opens the gates and redeems the people through salvation and forgiveness of sins. Jesus bridges the gap in our lives even after we are saved. There is no other way to God and eternity except through the Son Jesus.
