1 Timothy 1:5-6

But the goal of our instruction is love (which springs) from a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith. Some individuals have wandered away from these things into empty arguments and useless discussion. 

Jesus wants us to have a pure heart and sincere faith based on the Word. When we focus on the love of each other, we can help build each other up and not tear each other down. We must keep ourselves from speculation, gossip, and criticism as believers. (I know it is hard.) Any of these communications is a detriment to our faith walk and hinders our growth.
