Romans 1:22-23

Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God for an image (worthless idols) in the shape of mortal man and birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.

When we worship, we give honor to God above all else. God alone deserves worship in our lives. We have to delineate between God as the creator and what is earthly and not meriting elevation to a God status and worship. We can’t replace God with money, power, fame, or even family; the list could go on.
